EX29.1 New Model
to Enhance Toronto's Economic Competitiveness |
 |
I said no to
large salaries to sit on newly created boards.
What happened to voluntarism and civic duty?
|
August 2009
EX33.6 Indemnification Policy for Members of
Council and Defamation |
 |
To approve
a legal fund to sue taxpayers:
My motion to not allow this passed. No city
jurisdiction in North America has a fund for
elected officials to sue constituents |
July 2009
CC39.1 Results
of Negotiations with CUPE Local 79 and TCEU
416 |
 |
To approve
the contract with CUPE 416 & 79
There were arguments to be made on both
sides but I wanted to represent what you wanted.
I sent out 1,000 e-mails. Read more about this
here and here.

RM30.5 - Review of Order Paper |
 |
A motion to discuss
a salary freeze for councillors. I voted to
have the item discussed. A City job is a great
job with benefits. We all need to share the
sacrifice of not bumping salaries
|
December 2008
PW20.21 - Bikeway Network Program - Phase 5
Installation of Bicycle Lanes |
 |
Spend 7 million
on bike lanes? No. The plan is not comprehensive.
Bike riders should be licensed. They break laws
and run into people and are not accountable.
Why do all lanes have to be on the road? We
have a great park system which should be utilized.
We are not a European country and winters are
not soft on bikers. So let's have a full discussion
and balance out the issue. |
October 2008
EX24.3 - Declaring the TTC an Essential Service
in Toronto |
 |
Theirs is a public
service monopoly, and as such it should be essential.
|
July 2008
EX22.1 - Removal of the Gardiner Expressway
East from Jarvis |
 |
Take it down
and replace it with condos and create traffic
gridlock?
|
March 2008
EX18.1.A - 2008 Budget Committee Recommended
Operation Budget |
 |
Opposed 3.75%
tax increase for the same reason as 2007
|
January 2008
ST7.4.2 - City Council Meeting Times |
 |
Eliminating food
and drink from council meetings. Everyone dines
including security guards and staff. I pay back
$150.00 for any drinks or food that I have consumed. |
December 2007
EX 15.23 - Elimination of Blue Jay Ticket Purchases
for Councillors |
 |
Why should we
entertain ourselves at the tax payers' expense? |
October 2007
EX 10.1 - New Taxation Measures |
 |
Only in Toronto.
We let the Province off the hook for their responsibilities
and become the only Municipality to levy such
charges, making it a more costly place to live.
Includes $60 Vehicle Registration
Tax & Muncipal Land Transfer Tax.
The mayor and councillors
chose to simply increase taxes instead of finding
cost savings that were both real and achievable.
Scarborough Councillors who
voted YES: Cho, De Baeremaeker, Heaps
& Kelly
Scarborough Councillors who voted NO:
Ashton, Del Grande, Lee, Moser, Thompson, Ainsle

June 2007
EX 9.1 Proposed
Initiatives and Financing Model to get to 70%
Solid Waste Diversion by 2010 |
 |
i.e. the Garbage
Tax. I supported having people provide input.
The Mayor nor Councillors ran on a platform
to increase costs on garbage. Bins work great
in San Francisco but get an 80 year old to lug
them over snow. |
April 2007
HL2.8 - Grants
and Donations in Support of Toronto Public Health
Service |
 |
While I did not
support this I did raise concerns that there
is no measurement of success or accountability
and organizations need to be accountable |
April 2007
EX5.1.99 - 2007 Recommended Capital Budget for
Nathan Phillips Square |
 |
This was sold
to council that private monies would be used
to develop the square, but that has disappeared
and the City wants to go it alone
|
April 2007
EX5.1.76.1 - 2007 Recommended Capital Budget
for City Hall |
 |
The Mayor has
increased his staff and demonstrates that spending
is the order of the day
